Happy weekend, everyone!

Do you need a cute new summer dress? [YOU DO.](https://www.gofugyourself.com/fug-nation-loves-cute-summer-dresses-06-2019?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

This is a great story, at the Los Angeles Times: [75 years ago, she was an Army nurse. At age 99, she’s returned to Normandy to mark D-day.](https://www.latimes.com/world/europe/la-fg-france-d-day-75th-anniversary-army-nurse-20190605-story.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

Paula Pell wrote a great essay for Glamour called [People Used to Tell Me ‘You Could Be a Knockout’— My Mistake Was Listening to Them.](https://www.glamour.com/story/paula-pell-essay?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) I don't want to spoil it, but the kicker is perfect.

At Lainey, ooooh, [K. Stew and Stella Maxwell might be back together](https://pubx.co/5rVl5R?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)?

Also over at Lainey, I am ALWAYS interested in these sorts of stories (curses, not explosions): [The Curse of Bond 25?](https://pubx.co/Idrv8v?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) (Maybe Phoebe Waller-Bridge can save them.)

The Tonys are Sunday, and [this Tony Award-Winning Musical Generator at Electric Lit is VERY fun](https://electricliterature.com/title-your-tony-award-winning-musical-with-our-handy-chart/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). Mine is "an all-singing, all-dancing dystopian retelling of Death in Venice that takes place in the Harlem Renaissance." That actually sounds *very* compelling.

At Entertainment Weekly: *Ghostbusters* at 35: [Ernie Hudson on Winston Zeddemore's proud legacy as a black movie hero](https://ew.com/movies/2019/06/06/ghostbusters-at-35-ernie-hudson-on-winston-zeddemore-legacy/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

This is great, at the New York Times:[ Jenny Slate Will Give a Graduation Speech to a Class of One](https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/05/us/cuttyhunk-jenny-slate-graduation-speech.html??ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

Also at the NYT:[ A 40-Something Looks Back at ‘Thirtysomething’](https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/05/arts/television/thirtysomething-tv-rewatch.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). I binge-watched all of Thirtysomething on Bravo in 2001 when I was unemployed and it really got me through some shit. (This was when Bravo wasn't just 24/7 Housewives -- which, of course, has also gotten me through some shit.)

ALSO at the NYT, this is SO GOOD: [The Widows of the Plaza Hotel.](https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/07/realestate/the-widows-of-the-plaza-hotel.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) Let me share a taste: "There was a Russian princess who kept a lion in her bathtub; a Southern belle credited with inventing the cocktail party; a recluse who called for her chauffeur and car at 10 a.m. every day, although she hadn’t left her room in years; and a fastidious older woman who spent her days patrolling the Plaza’s perimeter, clearing sidewalks of cigarette butts by stabbing them with her umbrella tip."

I really liked this feature at Design\*Sponge: [That One Piece: My Curbside Sofa](https://www.designsponge.com/2019/06/that-one-piece-my-curbside-sofa.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). (It's a good sofa!!)

This is fun, at Pajiba: [Drag Queens, Pregnancy Woes, Fist Fights, And How Steven Spielberg Saved 'To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar'](https://www.pajiba.com/film%5Freviews/how-steven-spielberg-saved-to-wong-foo-thanks-for-everything-julie-newmar.php?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

This was good, at Variety: [Ellen Pompeo and Taraji P. Henson on ‘Toxic’ ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Culture, Fair Pay](https://variety.com/2019/tv/features/ellen-pompeo-taraji-p-henson-greys-anatomy-empire-1203232936/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

Via Celebitchy: [Anthony Mackie wakes up at 5, falls asleep at 9:30 watching Golden Girls: goals?](https://www.celebitchy.com/623890/anthony%5Fmackie%5Fwakes%5Fup%5Fat%5F5%5Ffalls%5Fasleep%5Fat%5F930%5Fwatching%5Fgolden%5Fgirls%5Fgoals/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) Well, I do NOT want to get up at 5 a.m., but conking out to the Golden Girls sounds pretty sweet.

At Socialite Life: [Adele Raps Nicki Minaj’s ‘Monster’ Verse Like a Boss.](https://socialitelife.com/adele-raps-nicki-minajs-monster-verse-like-a-boss/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) (I truly believe that Adele can do anything.)

Finally, we got an email this week that I'm sharing in case it is of interest to any of you: "I'm a story scout for the podcast [Spooked ](https://spookedpodcast.org/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)(a spinoff of Snap Judgment), which is all about true scary stories, and I'm trying to get the word out as far and wide as I can that I would love for people to send me their experiences. The stories can be paranormal or not--ghosts, aliens, Bigfoot, El Chupacabra, fleeing an ax murderer, whatever. They just have to be true. And the storytellers can be anonymous if they want." If you want to send in your own experience, email Anne at anne@anne-ford.com.
