This summer has been A BUMMER, to say the least, but I hope you enjoy a safe and fun long weekend, Americans -- and a safe and fun normal weekend if you're not here in the US.

In case you missed it earlier this week, [I rounded up some cute outdoor stuff -- a lot of which is on sale this weekend](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/fug-nation-loves-stuff-for-their-patio-balcony-deck-yard-outside-situation-09-2020/).

On Monday, [we wrote this tribute to Chadwick Boseman, if you didn't see it](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/chadwick-boseman-was-also-a-king-of-the-red-carpet-08-2020/).

We also had [a really fun chat about our favorite sandwiches](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/your-afternoon-chat-what-is-the-perfect-sandwich-09-2020/), the [best meal you've ever had](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/your-afternoon-chat-whats-the-best-meal-you-ever-had-08-2020/), and the [best books you've read this summer.](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/your-afternoon-chat-what-great-books-did-you-read-this-summer-09-2020/)

At the NYT: [It’s Hard to Make Dignity Interesting. Chadwick Boseman Found a Way.](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/29/movies/chadwick-boseman-appraisal.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

This was great, from Roxana Hadadi: [Change How the Game is Played: On the Power of Labor and the Timeliness of *High Flying Bird* ](https://www.rogerebert.com/features/change-how-the-game-is-played-on-the-power-of-labor-and-the-timeliness-of-high-flying-bird?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)\[Roger Ebert\]

This profile of Breonna Taylor[ is so beautifully done and well-worth your time](https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/30/us/breonna-taylor-police-killing.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). It will make you cry, and it will make you mad. \[NYT\]

Heartbreaking and beautiful from Jesmyn Ward, who I think is one of our greatest living writers: [On Witness and Respair: A Personal Tragedy Followed By Pandemic ](https://www.vanityfair.com/culture/2020/08/jesmyn-ward-on-husbands-death-and-grief-during-covid?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

At the Atlantic, by some woman named Hillary Clinton: [Women’s rights are human rights. But rights are nothing without the power to claim them.](https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2020/10/hillary-clinton-womens-rights/615463/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

So good, at New York: [You Don’t Know Her: Thirty years into an epic career, Mariah Carey is still trying to explain herself.](https://www.vulture.com/article/mariah-carey-rarities-profile.html??ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

This is[ a really good interview with John Boyega at British GQ](https://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/culture/article/john-boyega-interview-2020??ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io).

At the Washington Post: [Behind a father-and-son protest, a history of laughter and struggle](https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2020/09/03/white-father-black-son-blm-protest/?arc404=true&ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

Refinery29 did [a BIG package on fashion in 2020, and it's very good.](https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/fashion-changes-2020?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)

Why am I so interested in this? Is it because I'm just longing for like Dumb Juicy A List Celebrity Shenanigans? Definitely.

It's so right that this is at Town & Country: [Whit Stillman's *Metropolitan*: An Oral History of the Preppiest, WASPiest, Wittiest Comedy of Heirs](https://www.townandcountrymag.com/leisure/arts-and-culture/a33488246/metropolitan-whit-stillman-oral-history/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)
