# Gisele on Harper's

This is probably not often said about Gisele, but we're losing her face here. She is wearing a bag of Muppet shavings -- or, like, repair patches, like if Sweetums is having a bad molting day and they need an emergency hair plug. And so even with her best efforts at giving this shape and verve, it's all lost under Sweetums's toupee rack.

This is neat, though. You can't see her face, sure, but there is a real precision to the way she's contorting herself here. Something about the way her hand is resting on its fingertips, she's on her toes, but she's fully folded... it's a good photograph and I think it showcases that modeling does require other skills than just a face the camera loves.

The other thing I find intriguing here is that they don't seem too fussed about Gisele looking like Gisele. They know you know it's Gisele, so the focus is more on angles and setups and shapes, and her demonstrating the sheer number of different things you'll get from her in one shoot. Not 8 photos shot from the same angle. The ballooning of her pants there is really cool.

It cracks me up that it looks like she's growing out of the Earth and her left foot simply hasn't popped out yet.

That might be a better version of a similar idea? However: WOW, Fendi has created a truly hideous ballet slipper.

Is putting Gisele in bandages in a tree cockamamie? Maybe. Is it also a GREAT shot? Yes.

I like the unbridled joy of this one. It balances things. And you so rarely get it in magazines.

Our heat JUST got fixed after a week of being dead -- thankfully we live in California, but it was in the 40s overnight and our house never got above 55 during that time, which my feet did not care for! -- and so this looks like an EXTREMELY tempting cocoon.

And this IS a little jarring because of how little it resembles her. I mean, I know it's her, so I see her in it, but if I did NOT know it was her than I might be stumped?
