[The *Vogue* review of this show](https://www.vogue.com/fashion-shows/fall-2023-ready-to-wear/givenchy?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) politely said that Matthew Williams, who took over in June 2020, has struggled to pin down the house's identity and how to put his stamp on it. Apparently, he now has Carine Roitfeld -- think Miranda Priestley's French rival in *Devil Wears Prada* \-- consulting with him, and *Vogue* was cautiously pleased with the results. But this says to me that Givenchy's overlords are not sure at all about any of this, and that he might be on a tightrope here. So now that there's drama, let's look at it!
