Paula Patton

Paula is the first one we saw in the color, and as such, we liked it immediately (also, she seems so CHEERFUL all the time, it was an appropriate hue). In hindsight, though, the color is pretty much the ONLY thing of interest about the dress, which is otherwise as straightforward and basic as can be -- the kind of thing Oscar de la Renta could sneeze three of into a hanky before lunch.

Maria Menounos

The thing is, when you DO wear that egg yolk shade, maybe that IS all you need. Because Maria's dress isn't super avant garde, either. It's sparkly, it's tight, it's beehive-friendly, it stands out in a crowd. What else does it really need? A tail? Nipple screens? No.

Yvonne Strahovski

Yvonne's dress has a slit up the front that you can only slightly see in this photo. What I love about Yvonne is that everyone knows she has an incredible body, because she's always in tight stuff or bikinis on Chuck, so she never rams that fact down your throat. She knows, she knows you probably know, and that's as far as she cares to take it. I find her delightful and I hope she becomes mega-famous.

Mireille Enos

I rather love this. She's got the bright yellow skirt, and there's some graceful interest up top that doesn't compete with nor detract from the bold hue. Hair and lipstick are great. I love this almost as much as I loved her on Big Love. Which was a lot.

Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller

I love it when people's dates decide to blow it the hell OUT. Way to go, Lauren Miller, for not being a wallflower.

Missi Pyle

Okay, fine, this isn't really yellow, but it LOOKED yellowish on the telecast, so mentally I lumped it in; it's actually more of a urine-green, or as Clark Griswold's car dealer called it, Metallic Pee. (Although I think if your bodily fluids look like that, you should consider checking in with a doctor.) Anyway: Missi Pyle is hilarious and so I'm always happy to see her out and about; the gown is kind of fun, too. I might not even mind that it evokes a certain wood-paneled Family Truckster.

Mika Newton

Mika is the fourth-place finisher at Eurovision. I have no idea why she was there, but I can only hope it foretells a day when HBO broadcasts Eurovision in its entirety. I need it in my life. Although I'm disappointed she didn't really touch on her Eurovision roots and wear something that lit up, and belched dry ice.

Emily Blunt

This is the only shot we have available of Emily -- appropriately enough, from the telecast, when she wandered out and delivered all her lines sounding hammered. Even the proverbial drunk skunk was like, "LADY. Lay off the sauce until AFTER you go on-stage." She might have looked nice, but it was sort of disatracting -- but hey, the Golden Globes aren't Hollywood's drunkest night for nothing. At least she was in the spirit.

Golden Globes Fug and Fab Carpet: Yellow
There's always a point in the awards shows where one of us wails, "NO MORE NUDE DRESSES." Except this year, in the final analysis, there was actually a lot of color on the carpet -- a refreshing amount -- and not even entirely obvious ones. When was the last time you saw two yellow dresses on the same night, much less eight(ish)?
