I actually like the effect of the translucency between the pleats -- it looked nifty when she walked. But the whole Sideboob Pinafore look is not my jam, as I'm sure you can imagine.

I don't even entirely hate this; I just wish it had, you know, sides. Or a back. One or the other would be enough. You could repurpose it as a halter, too, with a sexy open back, or a tank-style bodice... there are lots of ways to do it that aren't so apron-adjacent.

I'm having some trouble really connecting to Alicia Vikander, and I think some of it is that I only ever seem to find photos where she's looking ALMOST at the camera but isn't quite making proper eye contact with it. The effect is that she seems dazed and only 70 percent present. I am not picking these pictures on purpose, either; I only ever notice it after I've downloaded them and it's too late. Maybe she and I are just not destined to be close.

Very crisp. The interesting shoe choice helps her get away with not adding much to the dress itself; it's smart styling.
