I guess there was a special on updos for Girls cast members.

This dress, to me, looked so great in motion, and I haven't been able to find a still photo that quite captures why I liked it. Essentially, it seemed like she was finally trying to do herself a favor -- she looks tall in it, and the gorgeous details all dovetail really nicely around her curves. It just pleased me so much to see her wearing something real, that didn't feel like a kind of cop-out. Often I think she puts on stuff that she knows doesn't work, and dares us to hate it because it plays into her self-perception somehow. But AHA, Lena, we think you look pretty and that this is your biggest success to date. SO THERE.

However, and I'm sad to admit this: The mother in me is totally thinking, "Child, you are going to regret those tattoos someday."

You know, I don't dislike this. But Allison Williams has way more interesting tastes than this, and she deserves better than to wear a dress that would've been just as at home on Glenn Close.

Zosia Mamet apparently didn't do the red carpet, because we don't have a solo shot of her. I like that her gown is shot through with leather. And that she's smiling. It seriously makes a difference. PLEASE, everybody in Hollywood, learn this. Because I know the world is bored of us typing it.

Bonus outfit: Lena wore this to the AFI Awards. The cat shoes are not to my taste, to put it politely. I think this needs the grown-up feel of some heels, but given how she hobbled around at the Globes, maybe Lena was just resting her arches. Fine. But I actually kind of wish she would sit down with Anne Hathaway and get some tips on how to work the pixie cut. It suits her, but man, she needs to spike it up and give it some sass. I'm sure Hathaway would do it in exchange for a guest spot on Girls where she gets to play herself, like, punching someone at a Whole Foods.
