I feel like there were a lot of people behind the scenes at Oscar de la Renta -- who designed this dress, which is very pretty indeed -- who were yelping at her to HOIST IT UP A WEE. Just like a quarter of an inch.

We should talk about the pearls. I am sure they're real and they're spectacular, but that shape pearl always reminds me of the plastic ones I had as a child, which popped together. I get that she's doing a whole Retro Party Dress thing -- the dress itself, the pearls, her ponytail. It's a look. I am just unsure if she needed to take said look so far?

I do NOT understand the current celeb trend of matching shoes exactly to gowns. I loathe it. It makes me want to knock over a Saks in a rage.

I assume it was her stylist or hair technician, but I like to think that she has a dedicated Ponytail Twirler on staff.
