This is really refreshing, like drinking a glass of chilly ice water in summer. The color is a wallop, the cut is in the retro spirit of her "Masters of Sex" wardrobe without looking like she stole from it, and the SHOES with it are SO CUTE. They were on the runway model and she was absolutely right to stick with them and add that clutch. In sum, don't you think January Jones should stew with jealousy that she didn't wear this first?
The material, up-close, seems very light and friendly, also. Almost seer-sucker.
Lizzy wore a really nifty art-deco Pucci. Her hair wasn't my favorite with it, perhaps, but she's so lovely and it's such a cool dress -- don't you think Sandra Bullock would've wanted it? -- that I forgive. I FORGIVE. My one wish for Lizzy is that she'd thrown back her head and given this the confidence it deserves. She is so pretty, and so is her outfit. Those two things together are poetry, and not in a wackadoo open-mic "So I Married An Axe Murderer" kind of way. Although if she wanted to carry herself like a beautiful, bemused, bellicose butcher, I could deal.
That overcoat is a little musty and strange, but damned if she isn't pulling it off. Even with the nude shoes, although at least they're pointy and not crazy platforms.
And THAT is good, too -- totally basic, a harmless sliver of midriff, and great shoes to offset the simplicity. She does not give off a vibe of craving being the star of the red-carpet show, but she is adept at keeping things comfortable without looking like she's blowing it off.
And, these two. After watching the show I've decided I want them to be having a torrid affair off-camera. Google tells me he's dating someone else, though, and that he may briefly have dated FitzGerald (who plays his wife). So I'm sure it'd be awkward all around if they ARE, but my love of a covert affair may win out here.
