Gwynnie gets to go first. This is... not good. Gwyneth posted a throwback photo to her first Met in 1995, in a CK tank dress, and this feels like a hybrid of that and her infamous too-big pink princess dress from when she won her Oscar. Except this one is too tight, and it's crinkling in accidental ways, and it's boring and off the night's point. When I remind you that Raf Simons just took over CK after running Dior into the aesthetic toilet, you will probably wail with me.
Amy Schumer in Zac Posen
I think a leather look was the right one for Amy, but the dress is doing all the work here. She seems to be giving this as little as possible, and it's not because she can't; she just seems to have punted on the hair and makeup, and there's no jewelry... if she actually did want to be here for a second time, she's hiding it rather well.
I do like the back. And actually, I can see her hair is an attempt at something sculptural, so that helps. It's just unfortunate that all that oomph is lost in the front view.
Lena in Elizabeth Kennedy
Lena is surprising me by not looking totally lost in this. It definitely succeeds in the volume portion of the challenge, but the shape is a little haphazard. There's almost an Outlander feel to it, in the sense that I believe she might have time-traveled back to the Highlands and improvised with some bedding.
