Okay, the top row: Evan Mock, Eli Brown, Zión Moreno. Bottom: Emily Alyn Lind, Thomas Doherty, Jordan Alexander and Savannah Lee Smith. Thomas looks like he is channeling Chuck Bass -- except that Chuck would die before being seen with a lunchbox -- and Eli up there is working some serious Dan Humphrey hair. Overall the male cast does not seem as diverse as the women.

Jordan is a singer in real life, so I assume we should saddle up for some of that on the show as well. And yes, it appears she is wearing bike shorts with those ridiculous boots. Jordan has a lot of personal panache to lend to the more absurd Eric Daman ensembles, but this one is just...

I can't. I know this is a TV show and so it's deliberately being OTT and absurdist, but bike shorts to me only exist in fashion as parody. When this character stands up, she looks a fool. I will accept bike shorts on your Peloton but otherwise LOOK INTO PANTS.

I assume that is Chanel. I hope the grand tradition of Constance Billard students dressing and acting like mini-moguls -- uniforms be damned -- is continuing. I can't wait until this show, like the other, ALSO turns them all into CEOs of various empires when they're 18.

Emily Alyn Lind is the daughter of the actress who played Nathan's mom Deb Scott on One Tree Hill. Her character is described as "being in a long-term relationship but beginning to wonder what else is out there," which as a log line is dull, and as a log line for a high schooler is EXTREMELY dull.

She looks a bit younger than the rest, so I wonder if she's the Little J analog. Although the one who really evokes Jenny Humphrey facially is...

... Tavi, former phenom fashion blogger and owner of Rookie Mag, who transitioned into acting via Broadway. I think she's supposed to be playing one of their student contemporaries -- there was a different shot I thought I got, but didn't, of her sitting on the steps with everyone -- even though she's dressed here like someone on the PTA. Also, I'm already bored of all these interchangeable dark-haired dudes. But, it's just episode 1. Perhaps better shenanigans will come.
