This is terrible. In our piece for Cosmo, we noted that it looks like when you half-ass trying on dresses by not removing your jeans. Or, as if she hated the original top of the dress and picked the shortest, sparkliest thing in her closet to try and cover it -- or, a third option, like she was having sex on a really expensive rug and her sequins got stuck to it. The point is: When your basic design looks like an accident of logistics has befallen you, it's not a success.

Katy is a MUCH better blonde than I would have anticipated, though. The tousled style -- which ordinarily might have me crying for a hairbrush -- really works for her.

Katy performed her new song while wearing a "PERSIST" armband and a Planned Parenthood button. I applaud her, also, for wearing totally nerdy sneakers that looks SUPER comfortable.

I assume this portion of the performance was about Wilson from Home Improvement.

The speeches were not political at the Grammys, but the performances were. Katy wore rose-tinted glasses and projected a huge pink rose over her fence -- fairly pointed for a song whose lyric includes the phrase: "so comfortable, we’re living in a bubble, bubble // so comfortable, we cannot see the trouble, trouble." And then finally, "I thought we could do better than that. I hope we can."

And then she ended with a projection of The Constitution on the wall behind her. Just in case you missed her meaning. I mean, if you're in search of a button, you could do a lot worse than the words of the Founding Fathers.
