Jessica said, "Argh, I almost called this for her," and to that I say: COUNT IT. This does scream Taylor. OdlR made her a matching mask for the show itself, also (actually that's the cast with many of these folks). The whole outfit is great. I know many of you think I am anti-bangs, and I'm not, at all! I love bangs! However, I think I prefer Taylor with either ... different bangs, or no bangs. These are not my favorite bangs.

Mickey Guyton in Valentino

Mickey had a baby a month ago. I'm so glad she was able to come and felt safe doing so, because she looked FAB and sounded even better (more on that later). This is ethereal and lovely and intricate. Butterflies are such a pretty symbol of the miracles nature can work, and of coming into a new phase, so what a cool treat get to wear this after having a baby.

He worked his Eccentric Grandpa look to maximum effect, and also eventually with a matching plaid mask.

Maren Morris in D&G

We talked about this on Twitter a little. D&G is clearly pushing very, very hard right now, and it's working, so obviously either stars or their stylists -- or both -- are very receptive. This is custom, too, so that means it was a close collab. Maren Morris calls out a lot of B.S. in her industry in a way that I really appreciate, so this was a surprise to me. I wonder if more celebs than we realize just are not plugged into any of this stuff at all, and only know what gets through the filter of their stylists. I truly don't know. But I also feel like any schmo could have made this dress -- there's nothing D&G about it to me, particularly -- so why not LET any schmo make it? AND FINALLY, once again, I look at Maren Morris and I wonder if she thinks Khloe Kardashian is quitting the band and leaving a vacancy.

Lizzo in Balmain

Lizzo wore this during the show; she wore another Balmain on the red carpet that we'll get to later. Spoiler: I don't like either of them. They, and she, are apparently in a real '80s prom headspace. But her shoes here are gorgeous and she herself radiates joy. But fashion-wise, it's not the glam of last year, nor the whimsy of past Moschinos, and I miss them.

Jhene Aiko in Monsoori

This has strong echoes of Rihanna's Giambattista Valli from a few years ago. It looks really fun to wear. You would never be uncomfortable, I assume, because you're basically sitting on a cloud all night.

Billie Eilish in Gucci

She is one of the few people who wore a mask on the red carpet -- I genuinely only counted two? -- and I appreciate that. So many of these people had them for the show; it would've been cool to get photos with and without. Also, this looks like someone doodled on wallpaper with a puffy pen.

Here is the other masker! Chika was up for Best New Artist, and I sincerely think having coordinated custom sweats is living the dream right now.

Jacob Collier

This gentleman is 26, has been nominated for seven Grammys, and has won five (as of this typing, two of this three from this night were still to come). That's a solid record even if he got blanked on those final ones. I love what he's wearing. Cool shoes, great color, nifty hit of pattern.
