The WGA typically holds its guild awards for the East and West Coast branches on the same night -- well, if memory serves, anyway -- and the Los Angeles one in particular was anemically attended. If I were an actor, I would be KISSING UP to all these people so that they were like, "Hey, she hauled ass to our annual back-patting ceremony; let's win her an Oscar for playing an elderly crank." But then I guess nobody would vote for me because they wouldn't think I was acting... still, I'd show up. FOR THE BROWNIE POINTS. And, any actual brownies.
