She'd had a good number of credits and had just done Losing Isaiah, which I think was her first major serious role. Mostly I think people were still blown away by her at this point as one of the industry's greatest beauties, and man... it's obvious why. She's a dream. Berry is nominated for Best Actress for her role in "Monster's Ball." Berry is wearing a gown designed by Elie Saab OSCARS, LOS ANGELES, USA And here, of course, is the big one. I think Elie Saab was primarily known for bridal work before this; that certainly changed. What's magic about this is that it's absolutely one of the most artful use of sheers you can imagine. Nothing about it is salacious; it is careful and perfectly crafted. I know it somewhat reflects the way the rest of the top of the dress is angled, but only a little.
