Tom was primarily known as the *Bachelor Party* or *Money Pit* dude -- Big was a year away -- and Rita worked steadily but in bit parts. Can they EVEN have imagined what was coming. By which I mean his Oscars, but also her wedding dress being nearly identical... ## Tom and Rita's wedding ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/GettyImages-115359852-1588179015.jpg) Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks during Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Wedding Reception at Rex's in Los Angeles, California, United States. Ah, *A League Of Their Own*. That's how I learned what The Clap was. Rita's dress here is fantastic, and as much as the previous dress should stay in the 80s forever, this one could come out now. ## 1992 ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/shutterstock_editorial_202337b-1588118822.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Randy Bauer/Shutterstock (202337b) Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson Tom Hanks Receiving a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Los Angeles, America - 1992 I assume this was bought in tune with *A League of Their Own*'s press. Not that it hasn't turned out to be a well-deserved star, but when you think about when he got this versus how much of the stuff he's legendary for he hadn't DONE yet... you realize, "Oh, yeah, the Walk of Fame is just marketing." ## 1994 ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/shutterstock_editorial_321135c-1588118852.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Kip Rano/Shutterstock (321135c) TOM HANKS circa 1994 Oh, no, these sweet people forgot how clothes fit. ## 1995 ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/shutterstock_editorial_5151835g-1588118936.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Berliner Studio/BEI/Shutterstock (5151835g) Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks 'Apollo 13' film premiere, Los Angeles, America - 20 Jun 1995 Mr. Rogers would have approved of that vest lurking under there. Kate Winslet picked up gongs for both Best Actress (‘Revolutionary Road’) and Best Supporting Actress (‘The Reader’), while Sally Hawkins won the Best Actress in a musical or comedy award (for ‘Happy-Go-Lucky’) and Danny Boyle scooped both Best Director and Best Film award for his acclaimed India-set drama, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. Others celebrated included Mickey Rourke, whose comeback to Hollywood was crowned by his winning Best Actor for ‘The Wrestler’, the late Heath Ledger (Best Supporting Actor) for his role as the Joker in Batman film ‘The Dark Knight’ and Irishman Colin Farrell, whose comedic talents were recognised for his role in comedy ‘In Bruges’, for which he received the Best Actor in a musical / comedy award. Tom Wilkinson won Best Supporting Actor for TV drama ‘John Adams’. Oh, dear. They've stored the produce on a too-small shelf. ## 2009 ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2020/04/shutterstock_editorial_6356606aw-1588118946.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Sayles/AP/Shutterstock (6356606aw) Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson Tom Hanks, left, and Rita Wilson arrive at Saks Fifth Avenue's "Unforgettable Evening" benefiting the Entertainment Industry Foundation Women's Cancer Research Fund in Beverly Hills, Calif. on Unforgettable Evening Benefit, Beverly Hills, USA "Tom, is this necklace excessive?
