Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson 1987
Look at these two party people, chilling at the 1987 Oscars. Tom was primarily known as the Bachelor Party or Money Pit dude -- Big was a year away -- and Rita worked steadily but in bit parts. Can they EVEN have imagined what was coming. By which I mean his Oscars, but also her wedding dress being nearly identical...

It's like the same dress, with 100 percent more Hip Scrunchie.

65th Oscar Awards Ceremony in Los Angeles, America - 1992
At these Oscars, we still didn't know he had Jimmy Dugan in him. Ah, A League Of Their Own. That's how I learned what The Clap was. Rita's dress here is fantastic, and as much as the previous dress should stay in the 80s forever, this one could come out now.

Tom Hanks Receiving a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Los Angeles, America - 1992
I assume this was bought in tune with A League of Their Own's press. Not that it hasn't turned out to be a well-deserved star, but when you think about when he got this versus how much of the stuff he's legendary for he hadn't DONE yet... you realize, "Oh, yeah, the Walk of Fame is just marketing."

The date was wrong on either this photo or the on before it -- both claim to be 2001. I decided this is 2002. If it's not... please forgive me. Rita is here with another timeless gown. She doesn't need to shop ever again, really and WHY can't my hair do that.

Dresses like that make me crazy, because they come across like a lazy person's plan to make a cocktail frock into a gown.

This was Rita's brief flirtation with being a Noted Kook. Tom is VERY excited to swing from her foot chandeliers later.

The awards circuit of 2011 was a very strange time for her.

This was Rita's star on the Walk of Fame, and while I am not ENTIRELY sure her body of work is quite at that level, that Affair to Remember monologue in Sleepless in Seattle was really good.
