Lauren Hutton

... did Mercury Retrograde go viral?!? Or did they just mean that this is the story of how that whole concept became widely known, and now kind of a catchphrase of sorts? Anyway, this is a great photo of Lauren. I enjoy also that she is posing in exactly the way that I, at 44, would do it: hands holding the girls more or less where I would prefer them to be on their own, and arms crossed to make sure nothing extra is exposed, like when, oh, I don't know, you're changing and your kids barge in without knocking.

I like this one better, especially because it's closer, but I'm sure they wanted the LAUREN HUTTON IS TOPLESS ON HARPER'S BAZAAR headline, which I should have given them too I guess for SEO purposes. Oh well!

"Hang on. I have a vision. I'm in a trench coat, with detachable sweater sleeves, and suddenly I plant my feet..."

"And then BAM, we do some sumo squats."

I like that she's not holding up her boobs in this one, but the picture itself isn't as good so I can see why it's not cover material. I love that they included it though.

Her smile truly is iconic.

Sora Choi

This is SO dramatic and effective, and really does feel -- with all the bright makeup -- like the front of a beauty-focused issue, kind of the way Allure would focus in on creative makeup.

I love this. I want this to be her movie poster for, like, Fast and Furious 11, which will not have a clever name, but they'll just turn the spines of the two Fs into 1s.

Here, she is SO bored waiting for her pants to come out of the sewing machine.

I get that this is arty, but I do not love that this looks like one half of her face is swelling up from being punched.

And then like... here she's been kidnapped or something?

And now she's hiding in a bathroom? I don't know. Her shoot is not as successful for me, and I think WAY too jarringly different in artistic direction than the other three.

Jill Kortleve

I guess the boob-grab dresses are here to stay. (Lauren Hutton's pose was on-trend then!)

Jill is what they're calling a "curve model" -- a term she uses in the piece, at least -- which refers to someone above the standard sample size of 0 and 2. It is bananas to me -- but obviously not surprising -- that anyone with this body would be considered outside a desirable standard. She looks great.

I'm not sure I needed this exact camera angle on it, though.

Her face is very arresting. She reminds me a little of Jordana Brewster. (Just a very little. It's the stronger brows, which Jordana held onto -- WISELY -- at a time when most other people did not.)

Jill is very good at twisting herself into shapes that would not be comfortable if I tried them, and may NOT be comfortable for her either, but she doesn't ever look like she's straining.

This is like a gorgeous sunscreen editorial.

No wonder she's so distraught. She's about to slide off the chair.

Imaan Hammam

I misread that as "Imaan Hammam on BLOGGING," which would have been a surprise. She is beautiful, but honestly, she looks a little bored in all her photos.

The vibe here is very, "You said I had to wear it. You did not say I had to be happy about it."

This is very Behind the Scenes at the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Auditions, where there is SO much waiting around.

There is maybe... a HINT more vulnerability in this one?

"Mom, are you f*cking kidding me with this? Maria's curfew is after midnight."

"MOM. Do not call Maria's mother and ask if that's true. FINE. I'll come home at 11:30."

It's Lovely to See Lauren Hutton on a Cover Again
At 78, she's topless (technically) on Harper's Bazaar this month.
