(Honestly, even when Charlize looks bad, she looks basically good, but I also think she looks actually good.) ## Alfre Woodward ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549cg-1533870436.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549cg) Alfrie Woodard Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 All hail Alfre for mastering the Cocktail Dres and Flat Sandals combo, which is NOT EASY. ## Amber Heard ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549ch-1533870449.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549ch) Amber Heard Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 This dress is a LITTLE confusing to me -- I love the fabric, but the torso looks like it shrunk, a bit? Like, the waist needs to hit a little lower OR the skirt needs to be a little longer? Something is happening there. BUT! Having said that, this is still kinda rad. (I sort of suspect I will LOVE the fabric when deployed in another form.) Her lipstick is glorious. ## Dawn-Lyen Gardner ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549ae-1533870251.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549ae) Dawn-Lyen Gardner Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 She's on *Queen Sugar*, and this is v. v. elegant. ## Eva LaRue ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549ai-1533870277.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549ai) Eva LaRue Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 This dress is very basic -- not in a bad way! -- but this is very well styled; those shoes are killer. (I do NOT know why Eva LaRue is at this event, but I always loved her on *All My Children.*) ## Jennifer Garner ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549br-1533870350.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549br) Jennifer Garner Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 This dress, also basic, has a cool shape and works with her general aura, but I wish she'd gone a little more interesting with her footwear. ## Joey King ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549g-1533870479.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549g) Joey King Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 The sleeves on this dress feel like someone in the design studio panicked at the 11th hour that they hadn't done enough. ## Regina King ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549j-1533870494.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549j) Regina King Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 I want to give her a GIANT cocktail ring. ## Cynthia Erivo ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549ac-1533870235.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549ac) Cynthia Erivo Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 Chic, as usual. Even the Visual Bra Concept works for me here. ## Mj Rodriguez ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549s-1533870507.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549s) Mj Rodriguez Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 MJ is on *Pose* and this dress is perfect and summery on her. ## Nia Long ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549bx-1533870364.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549bx) Nia Long Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 This feels vaguely caftan-adjacent and I shall never complain about a woman's choice to enjoy caftan-adjacency given how HOT and UNPLEASANT it is in LA right now. ## Dakota Fanning ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549bo-1533870335.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549bo) Dakota Fanning Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 Sure! This works! ## Lena Waithe ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549aa-1533870222.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549aa) Lena Waithe Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 Lena Waithe cut her hair off! She looks VERY cool. ([She talked to Marc Malkin about why she did it on the red carpet, and I found it very moving](https://twitter.com/Variety/status/1027739339956969472?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io). She is great.) ## John David Washington and Laura Harrier ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549an-1533870292.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549an) John David Washington and Laura Harrier Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 I love this whole look on Laura. JDW is Denzel Washington's son -- they are in *Black KkKlansman* together. He looks like his mom, to me, but that smile feels like pure Denzel. ## John Cho ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786662an-1533870525.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9786662an) John Cho arrives at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Grants Banquet at The Beverly Hilton hotel, in Beverly Hills, Calif 2018 Hollywood Foreign Press Association Grants Banquet - Arrivals, Beverly Hills, USA - 09 Aug 2018 Yay! Invite John Cho to all the things. ## Cody Fern ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549ba-1533870305.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549ba) Cody Fern Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 He was GREAT in *Versace* \-- [he played David Madson, one of Cunanan's victims, ](https://www.gofugyourself.com/photos/the-assassination-of-gianni-versace-episode-4-recap/versace-crime-story-recap-ep-4-gfy-cunanan-3-1518138487?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)and he is nearly unrecognizable in his civilian gear. (Unrecognizably handsome, I might add.) I also had no idea he was Australian. ## Finn Wittrock ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549ah-1533870264.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549ah) Finn Wittrock Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 Speaking of people who were INCREDIBLY GREAT in *The Assassination of Gianni Versace*, and who was also in that photo I just linked to. I do hope that show gets the acting awards love it deserved; these men were GREAT in it. ## Ben Hardy ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549bz-1533870392.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549bz) Ben Hardy Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 He is playing Roger Taylor in the Queen movie, *Bohemian Rhapsody,* and I just need to note here that I watched that entire trailer thinking, "WOW that Brian May wig is PERFECT!" ## Rami Malek ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549by-1533870378.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549by) Rami Malek Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 And Rami looked quite good as Freddie Mercury. That movie also looks like they spent a FORTUNE on it, and I hope it's good. There has been some concern that it downplays Mercury's relationships with men, and elides his having AIDS, but I guess we'll find out. I am SUPER ready for Awards Season Movies to start. ## Allen Leech ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549cb-1533870407.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549cb) Allen Leech Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 BRANSON! (Branson is also in the Queen movie. Will I ever stop calling him Branson? Not now that they're making a *Downton* movie! Although, let's be real, possibly not ever. After all, I still refer to Luke Perry as "Dylan.") ## Chris Messina ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786662m-1533870538.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Richard Shotwell/Invision/AP/REX/Shutterstock (9786662m) Chris Messina arrives at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Grants Banquet at The Beverly Hilton hotel, in Beverly Hills, Calif 2018 Hollywood Foreign Press Association Grants Banquet - Arrivals, Beverly Hills, USA - 09 Aug 2018 Chris Messina -- carrying the flag for *Sharp Objects* at this meet-n-greet -- has what I like to think of as "resting Why Am I Even Here?! face." ## Christian Slater ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549cd-1533870421.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549cd) Christian Slater Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 Since when does Christian Slater look like a British classics professor?! This is not a complaint. ## Tim Robbins ![](https://static.gofugyourself.com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549d-1533870464.jpg) Mandatory Credit: Photo by Chelsea Lauren/REX/Shutterstock (9786549d) Tim Robbins Hollywood Foreign Press Association Annual Grants Banquet, Arrivals, Los Angeles, USA - 09 Aug 2018 This is not how Tim looks in my head, you guys. [There Was a Big Hollywood Foreign Press Party Last NightUh, does this mean awards season has STARTED?![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/bf/b9/bfb99790-924d-4e41-a7e6-5e3c6e04fe57/content/images/static-gofugyourself-com/uploads/2018/08/shutterstock_9786549bk-1533870320.jpg)](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/there-was-a-big-hollywood-foreign-press-party-last-night-08-2018/)
