I tend to find everyone's "transitional collections" the most buy-able of all. Let's see if that holds true for Donna. I'd wager that leather jacket will get some play.
Maybe not the Ladies' Puffy Shirt so much, although one never knows. I kind of like the idea of dressing like a chic Lady Pirate.
We see Bernadette Peters and Susan Sarandon at the Donna Karan show A LOT (this last season, we also got Victoria Justice), and I feel like I can see Bernadette wearing this to an Into the Woods event where she reminds everyone that she can out-sing Meryl. #NoDisrespectToStreep, who can out-act anyone.
This is elegant and lovely and very grown-up, which is refreshing.
There are A LOT of coats and jackets herein.
THIS IS DIVINE.
This is one of those looks, I suspect, that's great on the model but makes a real person look like she just got busy in a Burger King bathroom.
I dig that belt.
This is for the lady who needs an elegant pencil skirt to go with her rifle.
Sarandon is TOTALLY going to come sweeping into an event in this.
And potentially this as well.
But ideally not this.
That said, I LOVE this. It's so Powerful Business Lady Who Gets Shit DONE, and that's one of my favorite clothing genres.
I fear mere mortals are not going to be able to pull off the Belted Puffer Jacket.
But this coat is AMAZING. It's beyond fabulous.
I do like the idea of Donna falling asleep in front of a Seinfeld rerun one day and waking up to say, "the puffy shirt. THAT'S IT. IT'S BACK." Better that than the Urban Sombrero.
This is fabulous, though. It's VERY Olivia Pope, too.
And this skirt is divine. It's ALSO very Olivia Pope (she does live her life in a shades of ethical gray).
COATS COATS COATS. I want someone to send this to Duchess Kate.
I feel like this dress will require someone tall. Let's throw caution to the wind and give it to Taylor Swift.
This one feels very, Lady Mary Goes to Business School.
I want to give this to Lupita and see her wear it with some major awesome earrings.
This requires the talents of a Real Broad to pull it off. We'll bring it up at the next Drinks With Broads meeting.
This top is very romantic.
More puffy puffers. I like the idea of a chic puffy jacket, but I don't know if they ever really translate that way in person.
Paging Alicia Florrick. Alicia Florrick, we have a delivery for you.
SOMEONE will wear this to SOMETHING. Mark my very unspecific words.
This is also very groovy. Let's give it to Emmy Rossum (who we've also seen at Donna Karan in the past).
Related.
I will sidebar to note that I think Contempo Casual sold those shoes in 1996, along with the matching choker.
This might be the Victoria Justice Girly option.
I AM really ready for sheer to be over.
And I am concerned about the public -- and pubic -- deployment of this.
I don't know about all these grommets.
But I KNOW that someone will wear this in 2015. I bet you $10. It's a no-brainer. Stylists have already ear-marked it. (I think it needs jewelry, though.)
It may surprise you, but I actually love this. It's very 30s in a way that is appealing to me. Let's give it to Chastain and see what happens.
The leather on this is very cool. My kingdom for lining, she said! Although this isn't at MAXIMUM Sheer, and at this point, that may be all we can hope for.
