Kate Spade Fall 2016

I'll take...okay, one of each. If you twist my arm.

FUR TURBANS YOU GUYS! I like going to these events, too, because when you photograph the models, you really are right in their space, and I can never resist smiling at them, and their model reserve almost always cracks and they smile back at you. It's a lovely moment of humanity and Fashion Week is very very low on warm moments of human connection.

Dear model, I am VERY SORRY that your eyes are closed in this shot. Just look at that cape!

There is a lot of delicious outerwear here.

Kate Spade also never skimps on the patterns, which I appreciate. (I am wearing the most INSANE pink and red sweater today.)

Pattern-mixing is also always a good topic of convo. I'm trying to get better at it; it's HARD.

This is obviously Kate Spade's Salute to Lady Edith.

THIS COAT. I WANT IT.

This seems like something we might see on a Fanning.

I'm not sure these pants are the most practical on a non-model, but I am willing to be convinced otherwise.

Again, this coat is divine. I really like this sort of slouchy Hepburn-y menswear-inspired thing. I can't really wear it MYSELF, but I enjoy it on other people.

As usual for Kate Spade, the shoes/bags/sunglasses were also charming.

These skirts are really back. I salute you if you can wear them without the buttons popping open when you sit down.

Can we interest you in a little War & Peace?

I should create a macro that just says, "I WANT THIS COAT."

I'd love to see this on, say, Keke Palmer. The pattern is so charming.

Just assume that I want every coat unless I note otherwise, okay?

This is fairly basic but feels like something that will sell well, which is increasingly becoming the name of the game.

I can't really sign off on this exact layering, but I love that pattern.

And I love this. All my love of ladylike styles is singing right now.

Ellie Kemper was one of the celebs at this show, and this feels VERY Sophisticated Kimmy Schmidt.

Have I mentioned to you that I love Wacky Pants? I just wish I could get away with them. One of the things I'm looking forward to about being, like 75, is that I can really wear crazy pants and no one will think anything of it.

If you don't present a version of a high-fashion Colonel Sanders, they kick you out of the CFDA.

Every season, there is at least one look where I think, "ah, this is the one you might as well get at Banana," and this is that look.

High Fugshion: Kate Spade Fall 2016
I always enjoy Kate Spade's presentations. As I think I say here every time we cover them, the brand hits me right in my sweet spot -- I cannot resist the quirky, retro-eccentric thing -- and also, their presentations always have snacks. This one was at The Rainbow Room (there were tiny tiny bite-size egg Benedicts, and everyone got pink-and-gold ballpoint pens, both of which are the absolute keys to my heart), and it was both highly cheery and extremely civilized, and Freida Pinto was there, and, you guys, Freida Pinto IS SO PRETTY in person. Freida Pinto, school supplies, tiny breakfast, and cute capes are the best way to put me in a good mood. [Photos: Kate Spade, my Instagram]
