This is SUPER elaborate, but I would love to see someone marching around in it on Sunday. Looking at the styling of the model, if you add bangs, you could see what might be if Rooney Mara slipped and fell and woke up addicted to wearing periwinkle. I'm not sure if it works. But this would work on someone -- it would be one hell of a statement, even. I kind of wish Natalie Portman would bust it out. Might it swallow her? Yes. But I also kind of wish she would pull a big diva I WON IT LAST YEAR moment, because that stuff is fun for the gossip mill.

Hmm. Viola Davis? She could nail this color. So could Giuliana, I think, although she always wears black, flesh tones, or red.

If you stick a liner under this, it becomes more interesting and wearable. If you don't... well, Heidi Klum would probably wear it anyway, if she got invited.

Underboob cutouts! PAGING SWINTON.

You know SOMEONE will wear basic black (ahem, Rooney, although she's not alone). This one is at least quite lovely and different. It reminds me of a butterfly.

Generally women don't pick this silhouette unless they are Of A Certain Age, so... Meryl or Glenn, this one would likely throw to you.

Kristin Wiig is presenting... it'd be so nice if she didn't wear beige, but we do know she likes a deep vee. I'm not sure this color would be great on her, but I'd give it a look. Cameron Diaz is also presenting; though I could see this on her, if she actually wore it she'd look jaundiced. Wear blue, Cammy. Blue is gentle.

This is delightfully crackballs. It looks like a staircase in Wonderland. Come on, Shailene. Make us chuckle. Or, pull it off, and make us eat these words with a side of bitch-slap.

I wish I liked this dress better. The COLOR is fantastic, but for me the design is a waste of that awesome hue -- limp arm things, not much else to it, etc. But this seems ripe for the red-carpet plucking, so maybe whoever does will change my opinion of it. I guess I expect a little more majesty from Oscar, even (see previous slide) if it's wacky majesty.

I put the cocktail-dress version of this in another slideshow. It's definitely a bit more overwhelming with this much skirt and shoulder, but at the same time, as you may have realized by now, I am looking for a take on black that isn't a black strapless fishtail.

I'm sort of surprised I like this, considering how I usually feel about lines that cut ladies across their knees or thighs. But the pattern is pleasantly delicate. If it were the Emmys I might say... Julie Bowen? But it's not. Shailene? Chastain? No, not Chastain. I take that back.

This is very ladylike. Ms. Janet McTeer of Albert Nobbs needs a big rebound from what she wore to the SAGs. She might be too buxom for this, though. If only Annette Bening were going; this is right up her alley. [shakes fist] PORTMAN!

This is post-party material, methinks.

This would be a dream on Brad Pitt.

Hmm. Rose Byrne? No... I can't decide about this one.

I feel like the only actress who would wear this to the Oscars is Gwyneth, or MAYBE Halle Berry, who is presenting... But Lea Michele would wear it to the supermarket if you let her. ZING. Actually I could totally see one of those pros from Dancing With The Stars getting her mitts on this and wearing it to, like, the Party For Famous People Who Watch The Oscars With Other Famous Non-Invitees, or possibly also Jennifer Lopez, although it seems to have insufficient sparkle for her.

I like how unusual this pattern is on such an elegantly cut dress. Renee Zellweger is obviously a big Herrera person, but she's been MIA from the big red carpets lately. What if... what if Michelle Williams did this? I think I might like that.

This is more demure than most people would go, but the dusty rose is appealing combined with black. Meryl again, maybe?

Another delicate and pretty dress. Sandra Bullock's movie is nominated for Best Picture; maybe she could bust it out in this and rub her amazingness in Jesse James' face. And everyone's faces. Nicole Kidman could also pull this off. A lot of people could. It's universally nice.

So much drama in this one.

Angelina all the way. She's been so into Jenny Packham lately, especially her metallics.

This is ANOTHER lovely color. It would work well on a fair-skinned lady. Possibly a redhead. CHASTAAAAAAIN. No, but seriously, Chastain won't wear this. I feel like she'll pop up in McQueen or some fancy-pants foreign couturier. What about Woodley?

You know somebody will wear this. Sigh. Let's see, who wouldn't mind looking like someone took a bejewelled bite out of her... STREEEEEEEEP. No, not really. But suddenly I am IN LOVE with that idea.

I love you, Coco Rocha. Also, forget Woodley for that periwinkle dress. I want her to show up in this. EXACTLY this. Hair, makeup, everything. I want her to waltz down that rug and be like, "You can snub me, but I will OWN YOUR RED CARPET, SUCKERS."

The punky lace on this one intrigues me.

The pattern on THIS one, I legit like, and think someone would be crazy not to wear. It is very like the McQueen Mila Kunis wore to the SAGs last year -- in fact I heard a lot of rumblings at Fashion Week that Lhuillier's entire collection felt very... familiar... in that way, although I never notice that stuff because I don't have an eye for it. I liked most of the dresses, though, so perhaps imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. And this one, you can't deny is a good look. Or at least I can't. Octavia! Bring it! Get the girls out and own them.

This one, I CAN deny is a good look. It was one of the few I didn't like in this show. Which is how you know, like, Cameron Diaz will pop up in it or something. SOMEONE will, somewhere, eventually. This town can't resist lace and tulle, even if the tulle does look like it's been in an attic for thirty years.

Someone will also wear this. Somebody, again, ALWAYS wears a huge feathery or furry skirt. It is the way of things. And if it doesn't happen Sunday, it'll happen in September.

If somebody wears this, I demand that it happen WITH that exact skirt circumference.

This one I just put in for giggles. I promise I don't want anyone to show up at the Oscars dressed as Little Women's Marmee.
