House of the Dragon Premiere

Olivia Cooke

Olivia's gigantic belt is clearly a nod to her character, who is the keeper of the HOD championship wrestling paraphernalia.

Tom Glynn-Carney

I believe he plays the best wedding deejay in all the Seven Kingdoms.

Emma D'Arcy

Emma looks very cool here -- a hint, maybe more than a hint, of Bowie.

Matt Smith

I cannot with this. The white tie, pale shirt, weirdly sloppy pants and stance... I do not think I ever entirely appreciate his vibe, but this seems very off.

Matthew Needham

This trouser length has betrayed him.

Eve Best

She looks foxy and mischievous, which from Wikipedia sounds like it might also be the case on the show.

Geeta Vasant Patel

Geeta is one of the directors. Game of Thrones, in its eight seasons across 2011-2019, only had one female director and she did four episodes from 2013-14. HOD, in its first season, has two women who've been at the helm for four episodes total. So! Doing better.

Catherine Goldschmidt

She is a cinematographer on the show, and boy did she nail the lipstick.

Phia Saban

She is another dragonrider on the show -- for real, many of them seem to have regular ones, like they're equestrians but of FIRE -- and she looks excellent.

Steve Toussaint

Yes yes. Very dapper.

Gayle Rankin

Broadway was presumably dark, as it was Monday, so Gayle got a break from Cabaret to come hang out here. I wish she had given her ribs a break from whatever this is. NOBODY should be taking lessons from Kim Kardashian's Met Gala corsetry, unless it's as a what-not-to-do.

Maria Osorio, Duy Nguyen, Vyvy Nguyen

Duy and Vyvy are on The Sympathizer, which is an HBO show, so they're being good teammates here. Everyone in this photo look nice; I particularly like Maria's polka dots.

Thuso Mbedu

She has an HBO show in production -- it's untitled -- so presumably she TOO is being a good teammate. The best, in fact, because that might be the most effective and interesting ensemble in this whole slideshow. I don't know how I feel about the big solid blue part, but I ALSO keep forgetting about it because the pattern is so lively.

Swerve Strickland

If you win a wrestling belt, are you contractually obligated to bring it with you everywhere? Does he bring this to buy groceries, or shop for shoes, or whatever? Seems cumbersome.
