Natalie may be branching out from Dior, as the last time she ventured out to something formal, it was in Valentino. I love that she steered herself into polka dots -- Natalie Portman does not typically love a pattern -- but I'm vexed by the knob of death that's been glued to her bosom. Is it Miu Miu's mistaken idea of how a brooch should look? The remnants of a clumsy bird that crashed to its doom? A tribute to *Black Swan*? A sloppy mask for a rip in the bodice? Something her cat made her that she didn't have the heart to reject? The shower-drain hairball of the last unfortunate human ever to cross her, which she collected in the dark of night and is now employing in a lost voodoo ritual? All of these are obviously equally plausible.
