This seems like the best place to tell my *Titanic* story. It was early 1997\. Three of my friends lived in the same apartment building as a dude who worked cutting trailers; he was an assistant to the person who edited the trailer for *Titanic*. One evening, he wandered downstairs to chat with us, while we hung out on the patio. "I haven't seen you in a while," one of my friends said. "I'm working on the *Titanic* trailer," he told us. "And it's a NIGHTMARE. That movie is a MESS. It's going to be a massive flop." Anyway, don't take stock tips from that guy.

PS: [Kate Winslet skipped this premiere because her former boyfriend Stephen Tredre had recently died](https://www.theguardian.com/film/1999/jan/15/features2?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io), and she remained in England to attend his funeral.
