Phillipa Soo (Cinderella) in Mara Hoffman

This is a GREAT dress and it reminds me of sand art and I might have to start scouring eBay for it in a minute.

Sara Bareilles (The Baker's Wife)

This is a cute idea that I don't think really works in practice. The dotted ruffles don't quite work for me; I keep thinking she has an apron on -- which, I guess as the Baker's Wife, might feel on-point?

Patina Miller (Witch)

She looks SUPERB.

Alysia Velez (Rapunzel)

This is her first Broadway show, which... what a thrilling start. And how's this for a modern bio: "She previously starred in TikTok’s musical, For You, Paige."

Gavin Creel (Cinderella's prince/Wolf)

His list of credits is BANANAS. I have no idea what the shirt refers to, unless it's a tribute to Milky White, the cow in the show. Which is not an actual cow...

Kennedy Kanagawa (Milky White)

... but a puppet operated by this man. This is a great article about the craft of the puppets in the show, and it was not behind a paywall for me so hopefully it won't be for you either?

Annie Golden (Cinderella’s Mother/Granny/Giant)

You might remember her as Norma on Orange Is The New Black -- although her bio says she was Sondheim's original Squeaky Fromme in "Assassins," which is cool. I like her impudent expression here.

Brooke Ishibashi (Florinda)

This is ALSO her debut. Her bra looks like an electrical circuit.

Diane Phelan (all-purpose understudy)

This is so pretty. I wish they gave Tonys for understudies. (Do they? Is there a secret Tony I don't know about?) She has to learn Cinderella, Lucinda, Rapunzel, and Cinderella's mother. FOUR parts, and be ready at a moment's notice to be any of them. I know that this kind of work in the trenches is part and parcel of working your way up to a lead, but that doesn't make it any less astonishing to me.

Joshua Henry (Rapunzel's prince)

This is VERY fun.

Julia Lester (Red Riding Hood)

She's apparently in High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and it's her first Broadway foray. She looks totally thrilled, just as you might imagine.

Adrienne Warren

I keep checking to make sure she isn't wearing two walking boots (as in the orthopedic device, not regular boots made for walking). The rest is great though.

Sutton Foster

Oooh, yes, I love that.

Gaten Matarazzo

He is great -- honestly, I would follow almost the entire cast of Stranger Things into whatever adventure they want, even if/when it's dumb -- but we have got to stop looking like we hemmed our clothes by chewing on them.

Katrina Lenk

She's in Company, so I assume this is her salute to more Sondheim on her show's dark night. She looks like she's going to a farmer's market in the Hamptons, a thing I base solely on my imaginings of the Hamptons because I have never actually been.

LaChanze

Fab.

Lilla Crawford

I still remember her from when she launched the last big Annie revival. Her dress is GREAT. (She's not in this; apparently she recurs in the new Pretty Little Liars series?!? Good for her. I hope she gets to lie.)

Sarah Drew

I love this whole ensemble, and also really think she and Jesse Williams need to stop pretending in the press that anyone wants a Jackson and April show/return. Because no. I JUST rewatched a good chunk of their episodes, and absolutely no.

Taye Diggs

Absolutely YES, though.

Into The Woods is Back on Broadway

With a lot of familiar faces.
