For starters, anyone who hangs out with Amy Poehler making hand gestures at cameras is probably pretty fun.
This is my favorite thing she wore all year. It's SO good. It's LIKE being casual on the red carpet except it's completely glam and sophisticated.
I find this totally charming -- like someone's Project Runway challenge was to hip up a Cosby sweater and she won.
She is making that jacket look like the BEST idea.
I like the bright yellow with orange shoes.
That's the pretty, more wearable version of the contraption J.Lo wore to the Oscars. And on her own Barbie.
A very classy, tailored, cool-as-hell suit.
The tights might be a bit much with it, but overall, it's nice to see someone taking a relaxed approach to a red-carpet event that ALSO happens to be clean and cute. Relaxed doesn't HAVE to mean unbrushed, unwashed, wrinkled. She just picked a cute dress, threw on some casual shoes, her hair is done but not Done, etc. I'm sure more went into it than that, obviously, but I like the fact that she makes it LOOK very relatable.
I like this because checkerboard is an unusual choice for a celeb, and also, it reminds me of my kitchen floor. Which I love, except when it's time to mop it.
Strangely, I couldn't find a shot of her walking to "Extra" in this dress that didn't make her body look like she was lurching. I don't know why. Anyway, I think it's a cool look -- could've used some lipstick, but that's been my clarion call all year for people. She's certainly not alone on that island.
Love the bold color on her, and it's so well styled -- if she'd dripped it in bling, she'd look like a Barbie.
The little stripey pleats in that dress are adorable.
Metallic houndstooth! Two things I love. Those throwpillows also make the list.
And the shoes are divine. AND all her toes are wrangled into them properly.
I thought this was well-accessorized, too -- she committed to the black and white motif in a way that made the shoes fit in, and not glare at me.
Great lipstick -- so many stars would've gone blank/nude here -- and the Muppet-like purse is dramatic in the best way.
Okay, I don't love the shoes, but THAT COAT. How do you wear that confidently? I would have schmutz all OVER that sucker.
We've seen a lot of this type of dress this year, and this one was the most successful, I think. It was deployed at the Met Ball, where a lot of concessions can be made. Especially for the strange makeup, which... yeah, I don't quite know how rock and roll it is, but whatever. The dress is still the best iteration of that trend.
