To start the event Monae raised her wine glass in toast, which she then asked everyone at the entire table (of roughly a couple hundred guests) to clink their glasses with the person next to them. One-by-one, each person toasted the next person until the wave reached her again. This toast, Monae said, mimics the ritual she and her Wondaland artists undertake in their own celebrations.
