# Jean Smart Won Again in White

Jean Smart told E! that when she was trying to find a dress, she recalled this Christian Siriano that he'd designed for her in 2021, and said, more or less, "Wait, that is GREAT, why didn't I wear this the first time?!" (My guess: Her husband died earlier that year, somewhat unexpectedly I think, and so her emotions may have pushed her toward [wearing black](https://www.gofugyourself.com/photos/2021-emmys-black/73rd-annual-emmy-awards-taking-place-at-la-live-la-live-los-angeles-california-united-states-19-sep-2021-6?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io).) This IS better than that Ralph Lauren, so I'm glad Christian got his moment -- and how smart of them all not to waste a great gown.

We had a fair few people in white this year. Janelle James, so hilarious on *Abbott Elementary*, is one of the surprising number of celebs who were not photographed on the red carpet. (Logistics, traffic, avoidance, I know not.) So all I have right this second is this shot of her on her own Instagram:

I love the slim strand of bling that makes up her dress strap. The rest looked pretty foxy from what I saw on the show. I am shaking my fist at the sky over whatever happened to deny us a timely full look.
