Who knows if this movie is any good ([Variety called it "solid," but seemed a little lukewarm](https://variety.com/2021/film/reviews/respect-review-jennifer-hudson-aretha-franklin-1235035155/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io)), but at least we can all rest confident in the fact that -- while no one sounds like Aretha -- at least Jennifer Hudson *can* really, really sing. ([It's been interesting to read about her preparation for the role, too](https://chicago.suntimes.com/movies-and-tv/2021/8/6/22612176/jennifer-hudson-aretha-franklin-respect-interview-carole-king-faith-here-i-am-chicago?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io).) Regardless, I am (a) excited to see it, and (b) thrilled that such a big-deal movie is finally coming out with real, proper events! (It was pushed from December due to the pandemic.) Some aspects of her premiere look are *dishy*, and some of them I have some questions about. We have much to discuss!
