One bit of language we're seeing more now is "customized" to acknowledge that a garment is an adaptation based on a runway look -- which falls somewhere between "I like this but can you just line it" and "Make me something from scratch." The runway version of this was black. I can't decide which version looks more like beautiful murder evidence, but I think the white one shows off the sparkles more.

If I'm not mistaken, those red Loubs were on Rue La La today, on sale from WOW THAT'S A LOT to Huh, That's A Lot. I also downloaded this photo because I thought there were more red blotches on the side and back of the dress, but it turns out that's just the red carpet peeking through a break in the fabric.

I've got to be honest: I thought I would like this, because it's gold and I'm easy, but it's very stuffy on her. Its delicacy may be best experienced in person, because in photos...

... that's just frumpy.

Wikipedia lists her at 5'4", and maybe that's why she's always wearing GIGANTIC platform shoes. Her formalwear more often than not seems to come with those; does her team just never have time for tailoring, or are the designers not allowing it?

Cute, but WAY TOO TIGHT, yet again. That's going to leave a mark.

And now we're revisiting the rest of her looks, beginning with another good day dress that is a touch too tight. The rest of this look is so good, though, and it's really pretty, so maybe I don't care. Also, that's another set of Loubs that was on Rue, discounted to $800. All but three pairs had sold. Insert bugged-out-eye emoji here.

Not her worst, not her best. POSSIBLY her dullest.

This is MUCH more precisely executed simplicity.

And, GASP. The COLOR. And, note, no chunky platforms, possibly because this length wouldn't have required extreme measures.

Ditto, and I LOVE THIS. GFY Jessica had a pair of black shoes back in the day that remind me of these. But hers were higher, and thus more potentially weaponized.

That had to have been chosen to show off some jewels, and for NO other reason.

Is it bronze? Metallic tangerine? Goldenrod? I don't know. But I like it from the front.

From the side, it veers into bridesmaid.

These hip potholders frustrated me, but one of our commenters correctly pointed out that she's selling it all like SUCH a movie star.

In case you missed it, one commenter in THIS post noted that braiding the tassels (as Chastain did) might've been done to transport the dress. That is the kind of logistical knowledge that we love around these here parts.

And here, a bummer of a scrolldown. I seriously cannot get over how the shape and position of the solid part looks like her own crotch is falling off.

For the opening photocall, she had to use big sleeves to contain her big excitement.

Adieu to you, Jessica Chastain! Here's hoping we get you in some more awards bait soon, because I'd like to see where all this goes.
