This is just such a BUMMER after the stuff she's deployed already. First of all, what woman in the world really wants a line of decals going STRAIGHT across her hips/thighs? If it doesn't look right on Julianne freaking Moore, then it's officially a putrid idea all around.
But, strip that away, and the shape is STILL a bit too boxy and unflattering. Not to mention that these particular decals looked, under the lights -- and actually here, as well -- fairly cheap and flimsy. I know some people collaborate on their custom dresses, like Lupita with Prada last year, but I wonder if Julianne had any say in this or just (mis)trusted Karl with her fate. I dislike it the more I look at it.
She looks cute in this, even if I don't like it exactly. The Independent Spirit Awards are EXACTLY the place to wear your high-fashion algae.
This is all WAY too MTV Movie Awards for her.
Now let's look back at what was, to see if it changes or underlines how we feel about what Julianne just wore. This silvery Givenchy is beautiful, and was the best start to the season that she could've wanted.
This actually isn't my favorite, but I don't dislike it, either, and I do think I like it BETTER than the Chanel even if it's very Sexy Widow.
This Tom Ford had a lot going for it, although "a nice fit" wasn't one of those things.
But this. This green Givenchy is IT for me, and I wish she'd hung onto it and deployed it on Sunday. She should've won her Oscar in that color. She should do everything in that color. She should go talk to Oscar the Grouch in that color.
