This movie is supposed to be so good, and eerily accurate, that I'm not sure I can ever go see it. If you were to give me a second crack at life but I had to start in middle school, I'm not sure I'd say yes.

I love this background, like a shelf of vinyl, but the poster manages to make Kiersey Clemons look like she old enough to be a love interest for Nick Offerman rather than what she is: young enough to be his his child.

This is starring and written by Cleopatra Coleman, and it's about... the future, and drones, and... farming, or something? It looks more like she stole the future version of John Cusack's boom box and is running with it, while Beth Grant up there has stolen parts of Faye Dunaway's face.

## Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again

This movie is a self-aware DELIGHT, and I would have watched it all over again immediately if I were in my house and not at a movie theatre. Yes, okay, they had to dig into the ABBA back catalog, but some of them are used affectingly, and then of course they revisit some favorites. If you can resist Dancing Queen then you might actually be dead.

## McQueen

I LOVE this poster. It's bizarre and beautiful and eerie and artistic and arresting, like many of his clothes.

## Mission Impossible Fallout

Y'all know one of my pet peeves is the inability to create a tagline that doesn't also borrow words from the title. Unless it's done very very cleverly. "Some Missions Are Not A Choice" is not one of those, especially because NO missions in any spy film have ever seemed very much like anyone's choice.

## Damascus Cover

However, this one for *Damascus Cover* might be worse: "His only weapon is his cover." That's not the WORST tagline, if the word "Cover" were not also in the title. COME ON PEOPLE. Titles are hard. Taglines are hard. But it CAN BE DONE.

## Ocean's 8

This is obviously an overseas poster for Ocean's 8, and what I can't figure out is why only Awkwafina and Rihanna got their names in big block letters. Is this the poster's way of telling us that Cate and Sandra and Mindy Kaling, et al, are not as big of a deal overseas? Also, while we're here, this movie had zero stakes and was an easygoing treat, and Helena Bonham Carter got very little press for how funny she is in it.

This is about a woman who, wait for it, digs puzzles. And I guess she meets a guy who brings her out of her shell, but... WHAT SHELL? PUZZLES ARE THE BEST.

## Shock and Awe

Okay, so evidently, this is about the four journalists who didn't buy into the Bush White House's spin on Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction. And Jessica Biel and Milla Jovovich are in it, but obviously did not merit a spot on the poster, which is... really a bummer, honestly.

I feel like this movie wants you to THINK that, say, Amy Smart, and Lindsay Lohan, and Jonah Hill, and Luke Wilson with bad hair and glasses, and maybe Mike Myers with a beard are all in it. None of them are. No one you've heard of is, except Johnny Knoxville.

This poster is actually decent for a second, until you get to those four images across the bottom, and then it turns into a crappy Nancy Meyers template. We've already SEEN Claire Danes and Jim Parsons looking semi-smug; we don't need them going FULL smug. And the other two seem plonked there so that the movie can point out its diverse cast, but they make Priyanka look like it's actually a rom-com about her finding love, and Octavia is her disapproving best friend. Boo.

## American Animals

This is about a bad failed art heist... except, by "art," I mean, "expensive art books." True. However, the art on the poster is bizarre and cool.

This one says it's about Vera Farmiga giving her charming ex-con father another chance by driving him across country, and along the way he enlists her kid to help him sell weed to his old friends, or something? Listen, I'm glad for Vera that her dad gets to be Christopher Plummer, but I bet this movie ends up framing her as too intolerant of his mischief and eventually forgiving him for Unconventionally Teaching Them All Lessons About Family, which will really annoy me because DON'T MAKE YOUR GRANDSON SELL WEED. 

## Damsel

Here we have -- I am not even kidding; it's the synopsis -- R.Pattz coming to find the love of his life, Mia Wasikowska, so that he can give her a miniature pony. BUT SHE HAS OTHER PLANS. I... do not like Westerns but now I am so curious. This is so *specific*.

This is a horror movie about an attempt to lower crime year-round by allowing one 12-hour free-for-all. And the poster is super freaky, and the idea is awful which means it's probably been broached recently somewhere because that's how 2018 likes to roll, but I have to say that the poster for this movie that REALLY got me...
