# Kate Hudson Has Attitude on InStyle

I was just thinking the other day that I miss Kate Hudson. I know she's busy doing Fabletics and her vodka label and she's got a toddler, but Kate Hudson is a very adept rom-com actress and I miss the rom-com! (She just got a sort of unexpected Golden Globes nod for *Music*, the Sia movie she's promoting with this cover and interview, but that is not a rom-com, as I understand it. \[And it seems to have...[a lot of issues going on with it in general](https://variety.com/2021/film/news/sia-music-warning-label-apologizes-autism-community-1234900277/?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io).\]) She seems like a hoot, and I think this cover has a real zing to it that is both unusual for a glossy magazine, and that seems to vibe with her personality. (It vaguely feels like an updated *Sassy* editorial -- which is, let me be clear, absolutely a complement.)

I particularly enjoyed this bit from the interview:

> When I tell Hudson that it seems like she's attracted to musicians — a comment that has surely been made a million times — she laughs. "I would like to say they're attracted to me," she says. "I'm attracted to musical people, period. From the outside, yeah, I get it. 'Oh, I like a rock star,' or whatever. But that's not really what it is. The reason I connect so deeply with musicians…is because we all connect to music in a way that you don't have to explain. You just feel it, and it's something you love." ("The lifestyle is not something to fall in love with," she says, laughing.)

(And I want the vintage lawn chairs they're using.) It's also got snaps of her little girl, who I don't think I've seen before. Spoiler: She's very cute.
