## Kate in Erdem

I personally LOVE a formal pattern, the bolder the better, and I am pro-this pattern specifically. To me, this feels like a F\*ck It Dress, where the wearer tries it on, realizes not everyone is going to love it, and then shrugs her shoulders and decides...well, you fill in the blanks. Kate gets a LOT of heat for being too boring. I'm happy to see her err on the other side for once.

I haven't got a photo of the back yet, but it's a very simple V-back. Just so you are aware. I also want to give a shout-out to how 80s this is, from the pattern to the bangs. It's bold.

Just as I kind of like the hem in the video clip, so do I kind of like it coming down the stairs. It might be best in motion.

I thought you might want a look at the earrings, which are -- [per our friends at Order of Splendor](https://queensjewelvault.blogspot.com/2015/10/the-queen-mothers-sapphire-and-diamond.html?ref=go-fug-yourself.ghost.io) \-- formerly belonging to the Queen Mum. They are sapphires and THEY ARE NICE. I also like this shot because you can imagine What Would Have Been without that ruffle. Didn't we almost have it all?

[Royally Played: The Duchess of Cambridge in ErdemYOU GUYS. You KNOW how I feel about (a) patterned evening gowns, and, (b) Erdem in general. I really wish this didn't have the dust-ruffle detailing on the bottom, but I feel like that's looking a gift horse in the mouth because -- although I suspect this will be very very divisive -- I really like this, that bit notwithstanding. Between this gutsy choice, and the bare, sheer back on last night's Jenny Packham, it seems Strides Are Being Made in terms of fashion adventurousness, and I am definitely here for that. I also think said Dust Ruffle looks MUCH better in movement than it does in pictures: The Duchess of Cambridge arriving at the Victoria and Albert museum for the 100WHF gala dinner. #royal pic.twitter.com/bFTABDStYB — Catherine Wylie (@wyliecatherine) October 27, 2015 Let us discuss! PS: This 100 Women in Hedge Funds event raised money for one of Kate's charities, The Art Room, which -- if I may quote the DMIK -- "uses art therapy to build confidence in vulnerable children experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties." \[Photos: Getty\]![](https://storage.ghost.io/c/bf/b9/bfb99790-924d-4e41-a7e6-5e3c6e04fe57/content/images/static-gofugyourself-com/uploads/2015/10/gettyimages-494515956.jpg)](https://go-fug-yourself.ghost.io/kate-middleton-erdem-100-women-in-hedge-funds-dinner-10-2015/)
