First: I liked this dress when she wore it the first time, but I thought it was Erdem then -- and I STILL thought it was Erdem this time, until I double-checked. ("She loves Erdem at the National Portrait Gallery!" I chirped to myself. WRONG-O.) I will go out on a limb and say: I liked it better without sleeves. It's not BAD with the sleeves but it didn't NEED the sleeves.

"I liked it better without the sleeves, too -- but can I be honest? I just didn't feel like shaving my arm pits."

I do enjoy the FOOFY sideways view of this dress (although I know a lot of people hate the way it is bisected by that ribbon, it does not bother me personally). This also seems like a great moment for me to note that the National Portrait Gallery is FANTASTIC, you should go if you've ever got the chance, I LOVE IT (Heather and I seriously have gone every time we've been in London, sometimes just because we've got an hour to kill), and Kate's a sweetie for continuing to support them even though they technically own this hideous portrait of her. Although who is to say that she's not supporting them in exchange for them looking the other way every time she has to "have it out for cleaning" which is basically always. I've been there like three times in the last five years and NE'ER HAS THE PAINTING BEEN ON VIEW.

In case you're wondering: Yes, she can still work that 2011-era haireography.
