I LOVE this. It feels so, "Hello, we just finished up a rousing game of croquet on the back lawn, are you planning on staying for lunch? The year is 1924, and my husband is secretly gay which causes him a lot of handsome angst, and it's going to be awful when we lose a lot of our money in a few years. I live in a book!"

God bless Keira for realizing she had a lot of room to work this skirt. (And also for removing the overdress that Karl originally plonked onto this thing; it’s the closing look from Pre-Fall 2018.)

Wash Westmoreland directed this film (in full disclosure, Heather is/was friends with him and his late partner in life and work, Richard Glazer, with whom he did Still Alice, and who co-wrote this screenplay); Denise plays Mathilde de Morny, a truly fascinating person. Everyone here looks appropriately dressed for a movie about French people.
