I really think her L'Oreal makeup people should have done more with this, in particular. It's a bright gown, and it looks great on her, but her cosmetics are a mismatch.

This is a near-hit also. It's from that era where people thought the approach to pleats and such shouldbe MORE! MANY! CHANGE THICKNESS, FAN THEM OUT, DO IT ALL! So it's creating some odd optical illusions -- like, here, that she has only one boob. And I again think she needed better makeup.

My kingdom for a lipstick. The dress reminds me of things Kate Winslet has worn.

This dress is deeply pigmented, for women who love color. Why isn't her makeup? Maybe she hated all of it.

I do LOVE this gown. Her neckace is an odd choice with it, but the dress is dreamy.

That necklace is EXTREMELY ornate and cool, and this is totally the wrong dress with it. I feel like a black column with a deep vee would have been ideal; this shiny green thing with a grievous dust ruffle is not happening.

Needs a bracelet. Or even the previous necklace! It needs SOMETHING. As is, it looks like the template for a dress that didn't actually make its way through the design process yet.

I love that skirt, and I think her makeup is for an afternoon party. A deep red lip would have SUNG.

It is based on the 2002 novel ‘Coco & Igor’ by Chris Greenhalgh and stars Anna Mouglalis and Mads Mikkelsen in the title roles.

I could have done without the tulle bomb. This also feels like a time when LOTS of people didn't have much interest in being able to move. I hope she lubed up her knees to protect against chafing.

Now THIS is some major glam. It's slick and sparkly, and while I don't LOVE the makeup, her smoky eye is just strong enough to help mitigate the very neutral lip.

Mandatory Credit: Photo by Matt Baron/BEI/Shutterstock (930860r) Kerry Washington 'Visage' film premiere at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival, Cannes, France - 23 May 2009 Synopsis: A Taiwanese filmmaker makes a film based on the myth of Salomé at the Louvre. Even though he speaks neither French nor English, he insists on giving the part of King Herod to the French actor Jean-Pierre Léaud. To give the film a chance at the box-office, the production company gives the role of Salomé to a world famous model. But problems arise as soon as filming begins… Amidst all this confusion, the director suddenly learns of his mother’s death. The producer flies to Taipei, to attend the funeral. The director falls into a deep sleep where his mother’s spirit does not seem to want to leave her old apartment. The producer has no choice but to wait, alone and lost in a strange city.

KABOOM.  I wish she'd worn that lip color with the previous dress, but it's very effective with this one, and it shows that IT CAN BE DONE. Kerry, you can sell the hell out of a hot red. I wish you'd done it sooner.
