This movie sounds very boilerplate: mayoral candidate, corruption, kidnapping, SECRETSSSSSSS. Ben Affleck, who co-wrote it, originally planned to direct Matt Damon in the lead, with Jennifer Garner as his wife. But then Matt had to go do *The Odyssey*, as one does, so Ben cast himself and then he and J.Gar decided that playing husband and wife would be way too distracting for viewers. Probably wise. If anyone can handle a flick where people get their hands dirty and reveal their seedy underbellies, it's the erstwhile Olivia Pope.
