I am VERY excited to welcome Stefani Germanotta back to the VMAs stage, where she looked into our souls -- withering by quarantine, loneliness, and *despair* \-- and realized she had exactly what we needed: A trip back to the world of Classic Gaga, where she looks vaguely like our favorite alien overlord (from a *very* chic planet)*,* except this time with a mask. And a message:

This is really a sweet speech and a lovely pep talk. We needed it, Gaga! We also needed all these over the top outfits, honestly.
