It makes sense that Gaga was always going to open in a major Gucci look and this might be my favorite ensemble of the entire enterprise. We were interviewed about the red carpet recently by Amy Odell and I said there that I think Gaga could have gone (slightly) bigger on this junket as a whole, and I stand by that. I do wonder if she's trying to market herself as a more standard-issue "serious actress," and make her red carpet looks feel like less of An Event? I'll be interested to see how she and her team go out for her next promotional tour. (Listen, the thing about Gaga is that she is ALWAYS interesting.)

This is glam in that I'm Wearing the Inside of a Steamer Trunk kind of way. (And blessings to Gaga's Hot Bodyguard, who has been with her for many years and has always been dreamy.)

This is custom, "vintage-inspired" Versace (per Donatella) and I actually think Gaga looks like Donatella herself here; I truly thought she was going to wear ALL Gucci for this junket, so seeing her turn to basically all the Italian legacy houses was fun.

Gaga actually more more Valentino than Gucci on this press tour, which is unexpected (although Gucci got plenty of love from Jared Leto). This look to me feels the MOST like your standard starlet fare -- not in a bad way; I think she looks great in it. But it's definitely more basic.
