This is a super clean, super classic look that I personally love -- but I don't know if I think she's going to do strapless, because she did so for her previous wedding (albeit in a considerably more casual way). If you looked at her style retrospective, however, it does seem like she LOVES a strapless formal look, so who knows?

This is basically a similar concept, but with straps. This sort of thing might be TOO basic, though? (Not for a civilian bride, of course; this is very elegant.)

This is a similar shape, but with more interesting beading; this is an absolutely beautiful gown. (Something like this might feel too similar to a wedding gown she worn on Suits, though.)

Temperley London

I LOVE this and honestly, I feel like something along these lines might be a good bet: It's very romantic, very British, and modest, without feeling too covered up. I'll be interested to see how much she blows it out on this dress: St George's is understated in comparison to St. Paul's or Westminster Abbey, but that doesn't mean her dress will be.

Chanel

OBVIOUSLY I hope she wears this absolutely as styled -- clear plastic gloves and all. In all seriousness, if she wears Chanel, I will eat my commemorative mug -- it will never happen -- but a twenties vibe like this wouldn't go amiss. It's sophisticated and a little unusual for a wedding. (This would also look good with the Strathmore Rose tiara, which is the one I hope she chooses to wear -- although I'd argue for it to be placed on top of her hand and not along the forehead.)

Sassi Holford

Sassi Holford is a British bridal designer, and there IS precedent for her, as she designed Autumn Phillips's wedding gown -- having said that, I think Meghan is going to go for a real top-of-the-line name. On the other hand, this gown is VERY in Meghan's wheelhouse, as it's similar to this red number she wore to great success.

Honestly, I would LOVE THIS (sans willy-nilly pearls, of course) and the skirt is vaguely similar to the one on Meghan's Ralph & Russo engagement photo gown. This is DELICIOUSLY OTT. Meghan's wedding day is, I think, the only day of her forthcoming life that people will give her free reign to spend whatever the hell kind of money she wants, so BLOW IT OUT, I say.

This is a (vaguely) more subtle variation on the theme, and I love the shape of this gown. Overall, it is profoundly elegant. Let me be clear: I do not actually think Meghan is going to roll out of whatever carriage she opts to use wearing a gown covered in feathers, as exciting as that would be. In a more reasonable vein, though, I think the SHAPE of this dress is a possibilty.

Meghan has said that she loves Caroline Bessett-Kennedy's famous Narciso Rodriguez gown and this feels like an updated, and marginally less slinky, version of that gown. It's simple, but beautiful. Timeless. (OdlR makes a GLORIOUS wedding gown; one of my best friends wore Oscar for her wedding and it was divine. Also: The saleswomen at Oscar were SO NICE, even when we were just browsing in jeans and sandals.)

Georges Hobeika

This very, very subtle use of color and pattern is glorious. I am NOT a person who gets worked up about a woman wearing white to her second wedding -- the conceit of the virginal white gown is usually just that, even at a woman's first wedding -- but given that Meghan has been married before (and she's not marrying the heir), she has a little artistic license, and it might be fun to see her exercise it.

Speaking of. IF ONLY.

Oscar de la Renta

As you can see, this isn't from Oscar's bridal line; this is part of the Spring/Summer 2018 line. But it would make an absolutely amazing wedding gown -- similar, perhaps, to Gwen Stefani's John Galliano-designed Dior wedding gown, but a bit more traditional. (As traditional as you can get wearing a wedding gown with hot pink ombre in it, anyway.) If I were very, very rich and having a very, very big wedding, this would be my choice. (As it is, I am not rich and not engaged, so this is all very theoretical!)

The texture on this feels like a modern take on the traditional lace -- although I love the stories, and levels of customization, that come with the traditional lace.

I mean, lined, obviously, and a bit less of a plunging vee neck, but you see where I am going with this.

This is similarly divine; it feels like Kate's dress, turned on its ear. (And it might be two pieces, which would be an exciting change of pace.)

If she chooses to go simple -- and she may -- this retro silhouette would be extremely romantic, especially next to Harry's military uniform, if he chooses to wear one. (Wills obviously went Full Disney Prince, but Harry MIGHT just wear morning dress; my own bet, though, is that he's going to wear the dress uniform associated with his new position of Captain General of the Royal Marines.)

The back of this is very romantic, as well.

Jenny Packham

I just realized that this is very possibly the Jenny Packham dress that Kate used as a template for her recent bespoke Packham, so we might not go in this direction after all! I DO think Packham has to be in the mix, however.

This is absolutely fantastic, and a way to do lace that doesn't look particularly similar to Kate's dress (or, for that matter, to Pippa's). Think about it, Meghan!
