The Independent Spirit Awards were, as ever, the day before the Oscars, and I wish Laura Dern had just RIDDEN IT OUT and not changed. Yes, this is way too casual for the Academy Awards, but it also benefits immensely from not having boob tassels. There are lots of other patterns to celebrate here, and a couple to frown about, so fire up your caffeine supply and let's go.
