This was for the Met Gala, whose theme was, yes, American fashion. But Versace had an answer for your questions about what it all means: "a three-part LGBTQ+ American fairytale....He arrived on the red carpet in a dramatic cape that exudes regality and represents concealing one's true self. The cape was then shed to reveal gleaming Medusa-adorned armor, a symbol of protection from the prejudices faced as a Black, queer person. Finally, the armor is removed to reveal a skin-tight bodysuit that represents living life as your true, unguarded self." And what a start this is. That is seriously lush.

He looks good in that. The Met is so much fun. Hopefully we won't be on deadly Covid variant Delta Omi Delta by then (I assume when they run out of letters, they'll start to sound like sororities).

By comparison this is obviously very sedate. It's really good, though. He looks dashing.

This was for "Lil Nas X attends BMI Presents A Night With Lil Nas X Awards dinner" which is a mouthful. And I don't totally understand what it was, but if it was him doing any kind of lounge act then this jacket feels right.

So are these... ski pants, worn backwards, with shoulder straps that he's chosen not to use? It's the only way my brain can parse this.

The proportions are terrible, but he's putting on a happy face.

I'm not sure why he wore two outfits to the BETs, except that maybe he wanted to spotlight this designer's work but knew it wasn't wrangle-able long-term. It's been described as a collection about "themes of Catholicism," and "question[ing] our society's customs and policies" and worn to celebrate Black culture, and "the future of society and the future of human being" along with a theory about Naruto.

I guess THAT'S how you make this one seem boring? It's just lace and flowers and flares.

This is like a Little Richard/Prince fusion, and I appreciate it. I actually want a whole season's worth of him and Zendaya planning outfits together that are worn in tandem.

If it weren't for the purse, I might not have known this was Thom Browne. It's so sedate. It's the Thom Browne For Boarding School Headmistresses in Roald Dahl Books.

The color of the year! Tell me: Would this have been better with different colored feathers? I am not into the blush color. I know it matches the shirt, though, and I'm not sure what color I would have chosen instead. Maybe just... pinker?

This is so chill by his standards, but I really like it. A person can't ALWAYS be The Most. It's exhausting. Even Lady Gaga takes a break.

He knows how to pose his way out of a boring outfit.

Okay maybe it's a less boring outfit than I thought. Not GOOD necessarily, but not basic.

He went all out for his Jingle Ball performances. There was one in silver...

... one in blue...

... and one in hot pink. Maybe even more that I missed. He works a metallic kilt, that's for sure.
