It is such a shame that awards season leads off with the Globes, because we get historic moments and spontaneous emotion that often dilute by the time we get around to the Oscars, because people generally figure out what to expect and prepare and sand off their edges accordingly. All of which is to say, Lily Gladstone's speech for her landmark Best Actress win -- she is the first person who identifies as indigenous (that is CNN’s language there) to take the category, or even to be nominated -- was wonderful and emotional, and included her speaking in Blackfeet, and it made me wish the dumb and probably still corrupt Globes hadn't been the ones to benefit from it. I'm sure she'll be just as fabulous at any of the other ones, and probably still plenty heartfelt. She *certainly* dressed for the spotlight. Yeah, the giant cape is black, but we included it here because the central core of the dress is white, which as you'll see was definitely something of a fashion mind-meld on this night.
