I gather Truth or Dare screened as In Bed With Madonna. (This dude is the director.) Madonna apparently decided that, 30 years later, she WOULD want to look back and be like, "I was pushing rompers WAY before it was hip."

I'm just sad they didn't find a way to work this costume into Center Stage. In so many ways, Cooper Nielsen's semi-autobiographical climactic ballet is his Truth or Dare.

For the premiere, she showed up coyly wrappd in pink...

... and then THREW IT OFF AND CACKLED, showing off the Gaultier cone bra. This photo is amazing because NONE of those dudes can decide if it's okay to look.

"Is that... an absorbent patch, or just modesty, or... no, don't look, buddy, your wife JUST took you back."

She didn't make another apeparance until 2008, in support of her Malawi documentary I Am Because We Are. Her face looks great. Her gown is funky, if slightly Roaring '20s Angel/Devil. I actually feel like Blake Lively is somewhere in quarantine coveting this dress and wondering if she can one day borrow it as "archival."

And then she hit up amfAR in a day dress, which is totally unexpected from any other attendee, but which somehow feels right for Madonna. Now, of course, she's hooked on Moschino (see: the Met Galas), with the aura of someone who'd afraid The Youngs just aren't paying attention. But back then I feel like she was more relaxed about such things, and figured simply being Madonna was enough. (It IS and it still should be, lady.)

"And the next item is this... kind of hideous black bag, actually. Should be worth, oh, 50 bucks at least. Start it at 40? Honestly I grabbed it off a seat at my table but I don't know whose it is."
"It's f*cking MINE, Madonna."
