I had to download one of the more blown-out photo because in some others the black dress blended into the backdrop too much; I suspect the photographers were frustrated by that, too, and experimented. Imagine this with Jessica's bright colored clutch. SO GOOD, right? (This suffers from the problem Chastain's dress did, but I didn't have access to a photo that provided more contrast.) And Chastain wouldn't really have lost anything with a black clutch.
