The itinerary called this "a BBQ at Victoria Park to celebrate community spirit within the region." And it absolutely bucketed with rain when they arrived, but they were not daunted. Although I suspect the booties will get chucked. I once wore flats in a NYC summer downpour and when we left three days later they were STILL so waterlogged that if I shook them I could hear sloshing. I tossed them with great regret.

Meghan held the brolly as he spoke; his speech was largely about mental health issues, how downtrodden the farming community has felt during this uncontrollable drought -- the rain here notwithstanding -- and the need to remove any stigma around asking for help. It sounds from this live-blog-style report as if his talk was very well-received and that very few people minded hanging around and getting soaked. Least of all Meghan. Look at her. She's totally unfazed.

And then Harry closed with a stirring a capella rendition of "Tomorrow" from Annie.

Meghan ditched her blazer for a tour of a local farm, where they discussed the issues plaguing the community and how hard they've been hit by the drought. The image of her actually literally rolling up her sleeves is superb, as if to be like, "Well, what can I do? I will milk whatever you need."

Everyone might be turning to look at someone who's speaking, but it sure LOOKS like they all swiveled because the toddler in attendance made a disgruntled noise. (I suspect every tour stop now is going to be like "BRING OUT YOUR SPROG! YOUR VERY YOUNGEST PLEASE!")

This is from earlier, at Dubbo airport. They must've had this faux photo-op set up for all the regional school kids, and it cracks me up that it's cutouts of Harry, Meghan, and a rhino.

I'm so glad this event looks like it was fun anyway. I'm sure this was tough for the Dubbo folk: They likely wanted to bring out their best weather to show off the community to their visitors, but how NEEDED the rain must be.

They were, naturally, given a boomerang. Londoners, keep your eye out for a man in a cap heaving a boomerang around Kensington Gardens.
