I LOVE a full-skirted shirtdress, and one of the reasons is because I think they look so pretty when seated. This is so elegant; she looks SO pretty here. (Also, all the textiles in this shot are amazing.) I love the ponytail on her -- and it's 83% humidity in Tonga right now, so it's also probably cooler on her.

I already waxed poetic about my feelings about this collar -- and then had to eat some of those feelings when I saw how well the collar worked with the piece placed around her neck, which I referred to as a lei, but if that's not ACTUALLY called a lei, please tell me! (Edit: It's called a kahoa! Thank you!) I still want to open this up at the neck a bit, but on the whole, it's so delightfully striped. (I like Harry's lighter weight suit, too.)

These sleeves are interesting -- it's a little hard to tell because of the stripe, but are they ruched?

The skirt also photographs well in movement, but mostly I pulled this pic because those kids are extremely cute.

I want to spend the next hour and a half reading about the pieces that have been tied around their waists. They are so cool looking. Emily Andrews said, on her Twitter, that they are "special wraps called Faka Ha'apai decorated with ‘Tonga’ in beads and heilala flower garlands, which are only given to those of the highest rank in Tonga." Tonga's tourism board's website has been up and down today, but they have a really interesting page about Tongan traditions and culture.(They also have a lot of hotel listing and I might have just spent like 45 minutes reading about them. Given that yesterday I spent a bunch of time reading about the private island they spend a night on in Fiji, perhaps I need a vacation?)
