Honestly, I love a gold, as you can imagine, but there's something SO special about a team winning bronze and being just as delighted and proud as they could POSSIBLY be. Because this is a HUGE deal and our men's team was an underdog -- we were never going to hang with China and Japan, even on China's worst day, which this basically was -- and they fought SO hard. I hope they are all LIVING IT UP right now. Screw the all-around! That's gotta be a faint hope anyway, right? CHOOSE MARGARITAS.

Stephen Nedoroscik

I was SO TENSE for him because he came just for the pommel horse and WHAT IF HE HAD WHIFFED IT. But he didn't. He knew.

He has kind of a Clark Kent/Superman thing going on with the glasses. The entire team was lifting him up and cheering and roaring for him, and he basically paused to put his glasses back on before they could continue the party.

Paul Juda

Also, I like these shirts. We looked fly!

Frederick Richard

And THIS man is a bundle of charisma (this pic is from qualifiers). What a delight he has been.

Frederick Richard

He looks so casual in this still photo, like, "Yeah, I can do this all night, what of it."

Brody Malone

Brody had a ROUGH day in qualifiers and he completely snapped back into the zone in the finals. This... looked painful. And he has an injury history on this apparatus, too.

Japan

LOOK at the joy on these men in awesome tank tops!

SNIFFLE.

SPORTS. I couldn't stop downloading photos of them.

Daiki Hashimoto

This may be one of the reasons Japan seemed SO over the moon to have placed first.

The pommel horse is bananas. Then again, ALL of them are insane. The RINGS? NO.

Kazuma Kaya

FYI, Japan's shirts on Day 1 were also super. The entire gymnastics kit has been excellent so far for them.

Su Weide of Team China

I was watching this in the car on my phone (I was not driving) and so some of the nuances escaped me, but I could still hear the GASPS in the crowd when China had two falls on the bars. Stunning shirt, heartbreaking day, but a silver is still incredibly impressive and the fact that they came in second on an atypically bad day shows how elite they are.

Once again, The Netherlands's orange brand is STRONG.

He looks like he's about to celebrate with a pelvic thrust. I hope he DID.

Canada finished lsat. But it's okay, my dude, because look at your biceps!

Neat tank, but this angle makes his shorts look like a bit of a diaper. Always plan for the upside-down, people.

Timo Eder, Germany

APPLAUSE. The rings are a true feat of strength. The CORE you need.

Nils Dunkel of Team Germany

The paint splash aspect of this is kicky.

I mean, I would wear that as a sweater. Also, I say this with tremendous respect: HIS ARMS CANNOT BE REAL. Those are... top-notch pipes.

Joe Fraser, Team GB

I like this shirt better. Is that design in the middle supposed to be... sort of Big Ben?

Omar Mohamed of Egypt

We didn't have TONS of photos from this event, but evidently the person covering the pommel horse was ON IT. And this is another super tank top. This makes me want to wear more tank tops, but first I have to get those shoulders. I'm SO CLOSE. It should only be another 40 years.

Mario Macchiati of Italy

Italy sorta bored me with this! For a second I thought he had his name under his boob, and then I realized it said EVERYONE on his team had a Freddy shirt, so it must be the brand.

Nazar Chepurnyi of Ukraine

"Can we go out for wings after? That sounds tasty."

Now Let's Give The Men's Gymnastics Teams Some Love!
Congrats to Japan, China, and the USA!
